Born in Bahçesaray County of Van at late 16th century, Faki Teyran was a poet and writer of folk tales and myths. Among the people he was known as the bard who knows the language of birds, and his well-known name means "the teacher of birds". As a representative of Islamic mystic folk literature, Faki Teyran has produces many works in Kurdish. In an effort to contribute to cultural activities in the Eastern Anatolia, the Sancaklar Foundation has had Faki Teyran Sepulchre built in 2009.
